NOT YOUR GRANDMA'S* Eden Valley Riesling 2020Regular price $22.00
A single Springton vineyard picked on two separate dates to capture both natural acidity/freshness and intensity of flavour. The two parcels were then cold fermented in a stainless steel tank to preserve purity of fruit then bottled with only a minimal addition of sulphur dioxide.
Floral, lemon/lime and lychee aromas are followed by intense apple, lime and orange blossom on the palate. The wine has great length of palate with the soft refreshing acidity balancing the intensity of fruit and providing the backbone to enable medium to long term cellaring if so desired.
Winemakers: Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela
2020 vintage : 91/100 "Bright, ripe-peach and lemon with hints of melon here, too. The palate has a very crisp, vibrant and elegant feel with intense, attractive peach flavour." – James Suckling.
2018 vintage: 92/100 "Light, bright yellow colour, with a green kaffir lime and crushed herb aromas, the palate delicate and refined, with tension and length and a trace of phenolic grip that adds to its texture and persistence. A tickle of sweetness, too. Slaty, fine and long." – The real Review, Huon Hooke.
2017 vintage: 91/100 "From 18-40yo vines at the Noack Vineyard at Springton. Crisp and fresh, as behoves the vintage. Light, floral and delicate lime. Certain to develop very well.” – Halliday Wine Companion.
2016 vintage: 91/100 "This turns up the citrus dial with lemon-lime blossom/juice/drops and zest with some mint too. It's refreshing with slatey, racy acidity and a slight bitter finish." – Halliday, Jane Faulkner
2015 vintage: 92/100 "Exactly as it should be. Floral and limey with just enough intensity and just enough length. Smells/tastes good, without resorting to trickery." – Halliday, Campbell Mattison
